Back to the Beginning—But Leveled Up

(Because healing was never the goal. Alignment was.)

Most people get into chiropractic because their parents did it, or because they had a life-changing adjustment. Neither was true for me.

Same goes for nutrition. And supplements. And diets. And I tried all of them.

At one point, I was taking 70 pills a day. I did the coffee enemas. The bentonite clay baths. The strict protocols.

And… nothing.

Nothing that lasted.

Have you ever noticed that the people most obsessed with healing—whatever their chosen method may be—are often the ones who seem the least happy?

Maybe that’s not true for you.

But it was definitely true for me.

I Was Caught in the Spectacle of Healing

For years, I believed that healing was just one more thing to figure out. To optimize. To “do right.”

I did the readings, the reiki, the cleanses. I got into energy work. I even trained others.

I had profound experiences.

There were results—don’t get me wrong.

But there was also something… missing.

It felt like I was circling something just outside my periphery. Like a whisper I couldn’t quite hear.

And then, finally—I walked away from it all.

That’s when everything started to shift.

Healing That Actually Felt Like Healing

When I stopped trying to fix what I thought was broken…When I stopped chasing someone else’s idea of health or balance or enlightenment…When I started choosing what actually brought me joy—That’s when my health, my energy, and my life began to change.

Not because I had finally found the right protocol, but because I had stopped punishing myself in the name of healing.

What I now know is this:

The things you do to nourish yourself should bring you joy.

Not manic joy. Not quick-hit dopamine joy.

But a soft, steady joy that builds over time.

A sense of rightness. A yes in your body.

If it feels like punishment, it’s not alignment—it’s conditioning.

I Was Never the Evangelist Type

I remember sitting in chiropractic philosophy class my first year of school and thinking, “I might’ve joined a cult.”

I scanned the room for someone—anyone—else who looked equally unsure.

I didn’t become a chiropractor to save people. I didn’t even join a practice to do chiropractic work after school. I signed on as a nutritionist.

But I quickly lost faith in the pills and powders too.

Eventually, I pulled away from all of it: the protocols, the pressure, the pedestal of the healer.

What I’ve come to understand now, nearly two decades later, is this:

Healers don’t heal.

They facilitate alignment.

That’s it.

And that’s everything.

Because if the person on the table walks right back into misalignment—mentally, emotionally, environmentally—then it doesn’t matter what you “fixed.”

It won’t last.

Back to the Work—But Not the Same Way

I used to cringe when someone would walk into my office and say, “Fix me.”

Now I understand why.

That mindset—that someone else holds your solution—is the trap.

It keeps us cycling through modalities, appointments, practitioners, without ever turning inward.

Now, I don’t hold onto outcomes.

I hold space for alignment—and I let go of the rest.

My first adjustment back in practice, here in Ecuador, was pure intuition.

No protocols. No checklists. No fear.

A man came in unable to stand upright, walk without pain, or lie on his back. I used dry needling, a little sound therapy, and adjusted L5 on the right and the occiput on the left.

Fifteen minutes.

That’s it.

He stood up pain-free and walked out smiling.

Two days later, I saw him dancing in town.

All I can do is all I can do.

And that’s enough—because I’m finally doing it from a place of alignment.

17 Years Later… A Full-Circle Moment

I never imagined I’d return to chiropractic.

Never imagined I’d have a practice in another country.

But here I am. And now, I can see it all differently.

These tools—chiropractic, nutrition, energy work—they’re not fixes.

They’re initiators of alignment.

They’re ways to support the body’s natural intelligence.

The real work is what comes after.

I’ve spent the last four years stripping it all down.

Letting go of the need to be anyone’s answer.

And now… I’m ready to offer what I do know:

That you are the answer.

That alignment is possible.

That healing is a byproduct—not a goal.
